SLO COUNTY's FASTEST GAME ON TWO FEET

BOYS RECREATIONAL LEAGUE (U10/U12/U14)

Spring 2026 Boys Recreational League Details

The 2026 spring season will be the tenth year that 805 Lacrosse has offered a youth recreational lacrosse league in San Luis Obispo County. We are planning to offer three, possibly four, different geographical practice locations to accommodate parents and players as best as possible – Northern SLO County (Atascadero or Templeton area), San Luis Obispo, and Southern SLO County/Northern SB County (Arroyo Grande area). We are also hoping to expand into the Los Osos/Morro Bay area, but we aren't sure if we will have enough players register in those areas to warrant having a separate practice location. Players from that area can always practice with the SLO team if we don't end up with enough players for a full Los Osos/Morro Bay based team.

Exact practice locations will be announced in early February. Practices will be held twice per week and will begin during the last week of February.

PRACTICE INFO

We are anticipating having three different age groups (U10, U12, and U14) practicing in three  or four different geographical areas. Each team will practice in their designated geographical area and then play games in San Luis Obispo on Saturdays (most games are played at the Damon-Garcia Sports Complex).

For information on what age bracket your son falls into, please review the USA Lacrosse approved age bracket table that we will be using for the 2026 season (see below). All age groups for each geographical area typically practice on the same field and at the same time, but game times for the different age groups may vary. In other words, the U10 and U12 and U14 players for a given practice location usually practice at the same field and at the same time, but game times on Saturdays will vary based on age.

If a player prefers to play on a team other than their hometown team (e.g., a player may live in Templeton but attend school in SLO and prefer to practice in SLO) those arrangements can easily be made by notifying the league of your preference during registration. We welcome players from anywhere in San Luis Obispo County and northern Santa Barbara County, but practice locations will likely be limited to Southern SLO County, SLO, North County, and possibly Los Osos/Morro Bay.

Practices begin in late February with games starting in mid-March and running through mid-May.

Registration for the 2026 spring season opens soon (November 13, 2025) and includes a reversible jersey and warm-up shirt (for under their pads). In addition to the 805 Lacrosse registration fees, all players must be current members of USA Lacrosse and provide their own equipment. Rental equipment is available on a first come, first served basis.

RENTAL EQUIPMENT INFO

Upon the conclusion of the 2026 rec season, we are planning on conducting a short All-Star season that will run into mid-June. The All-Star teams typically play in at least one tournament in Santa Barbara with other games locally or in Bakersfield or the Salinas area. There will be a nominal additional cost for the players who wish to try out for the All-Star team.

RULE CHANGE REQUIRES SHOULDER PADS BE NOCSAE CERTIFIED

***2022 RULE CHANGE REQUIRED NEW SHOULDER PADS FOR ALL PLAYERS***

A new equipment rule took effect on January 1, 2022 requiring boys shoulder pads to have additional protection and official NOCSAE certification. Please make sure that your son has NOCSAE certified shoulder pads that meet the new rule. If you're renting equipment, all of our shoulder pads meet the certification requirement.

If purchasing new shoulder pads, double check and make sure that they are NOCSAE certified. There are some online stores that are still selling the old, uncertified shoulder pads. If the price seems too good to be true, it's probably because they aren't NOCSAE approved.
