Spring 2020 Boys Recreational League Details

The 2020 spring season will be the fourth year that 805 Lacrosse has offered a youth recreational lacrosse league in San Luis Obispo County. Similar to past seasons, we will offer three different geographical practice locations in order to accommodate parents and players as best as possible. There will be three different age groups (U10, U12, and U14) practicing in three different geographical areas based on where the players live – South County (Arroyo Grande/Nipomo/Pismo Beach), San Luis Obispo, and North County (Atascadero/ Templeton/Paso Robles). Each team will practice in their designated geographical area, and then play games in a central location on Saturdays (Shell Beach Elementary).

The U12 and U14 teams will likely practice twice per week; the U10 teams will practice either once or twice per week depending on the coaches’ availability. For information on what age bracket your son falls into, please review the US Lacrosse approved age bracket table that we will be using for the 2020 season (see below). There is the option to have players "play up" in certain cases, please consult with the coaches once practice begins regarding that possibility. Typically, all three age groups will practice on the same field and at the same time, so players can easily move between age groups based on their ability. On Saturdays, we will often allow a player to play within his age group, and then play an additional game in the older age category if the player can clearly handle that level of play.

If players prefer to play on a team other than their hometown team (e.g. a player may live in Arroyo Grande but attend school in SLO and prefer to practice in SLO) those arrangements can easily be made by notifying the league of your preference during registration. We welcome players from anywhere in San Luis Obispo County, but practice locations will likely be limited to South County, SLO, and North County unless we have additional player registrations in other areas. If player registration includes a large enough number of players from another geographical area, e.g. Los Osos/Morro Bay/Cayucos, then the league will strive to add practices in that area.

Practices will begin in late February and games will begin mid-March 2020. The season will run from March through late May. The game schedule dates can be found here.

Registration for the 2020 spring season will begin in December 2019 and includes a reversible jersey and warm-up shirt (for under their pads). In addition to the 805 Lacrosse registration fees, all players must be current members of US Lacrosse  ( and provide all of their own equipment.

In addition to our 8 regular season rec games where our 805 Lacrosse players compete against other 805 Lacrosse players, the league is also arranging for outside games with leagues in neighboring counties. In the past few years, we have taken on teams from Orcutt, Bakersfield, and Santa Barbara. These games will be optional, and will be made available to registered players who wish to participate at no extra charge. Upon the conclusion of the rec season, we will also conduct an All-Star season that runs through approximately mid-June. The All-Star teams will play in at least two tournaments, one held locally and one in Santa Barbara or Bakersfield. There will be a nominal additional cost for the players who wish to tryout for the All-Star team.
