805 Sharks Wind Down Successful Regular Season

Following the conclusion of the regular 805 Youth Lacrosse recreation lacrosse season, a group of U-12 boys and U-14 boys opted to compete at the “next level” by competing against other clubs from Orcutt, Santa Barbara and Thousand Oaks.

On the weekend of June 2nd, in the tournament held at Talley Fields in Arroyo Grande, the boys’ U-12 team, coached by David Bufo, David Aguilar and Frank Giannico, hosted the Orcutt Outlaws and the Santa Barbara Riptide.  In these 2 games, the U-12 boys defeated Orcutt 7-4 but lost in a close contest to the Santa Barbara Riptide by the final score of 7-5.

The U-14 boys teams, coached by Marc Lea and Frank Giannico, played their first game against Orcutt Outlaws and won convincingly by a final score of 10-3.  According to Coach Lea, standouts for the 805 Sharks were Ted Hughes (defense), Nathan Acosta (attack), and goalie Audie Stevens.  In the 2nd game of the day, the U-14 Sharks defeated the Santa Barbara Riptide by the final score of 9-7.  In a tightly contested game, the entire team played very well and hustled on defense.  They challenged some really big Riptide offensive players and held them in check to ensure a victory in this game.

In the final friendly tournament held on June 9th at San Marcos High School, the U-12 boys, coached by Dave Bufo, Dave Aguilar and Pete Lee, lost to the Silverfin “A” team (Thousand Oaks) by a final score of 7-3.  Starting with 13 players, the 805 Sharks U-12 team played the balance of the first contest with only 2 substitutes.  In the second and final game for the U-12 team, the Sharks, with only 11 players, defeated the Silverfin “B” team with an overpowering display of defense and offensive power, wining the game by the final score of 10-1.

In the final game of the All-Star tournament season, the U-14 805 Sharks All-Star team, coached by Marc Lea, Kevin Sylvia, and Pete Lee, easily handled an undermanned Santa Barbara Riptide team by the final score of 9-4. Standout players for the Sharks were Max Sosa (midfield/defense), Max Hanchett (midfield/Attack), Colby White (defense/midfield), and Robert Collette (attack/midfield).

On behalf of the Board of Directors and coaches of 805 Youth Lacrosse Association, we would like to thank the players and their families for their continued support and involvement in helping to promote and grow the game of youth lacrosse.  We continue to look forward to your participation and involvement in our 2018-2019 season - the best is yet to come.
