In 2017, 805 Lacrosse held their first girls lacrosse recreational season with approximately 25 girls participating. We are hoping to at least double the number of participants for the 2018 season. We are planning on holding practices in San Luis Obispo once or twice per week with games to be held in SLO on Saturdays. We will be holding intra-squad games on Saturdays based on age breakdowns, and will also be looking into more competitive games against similar aged squads in Orcutt, Santa Ynez, and Santa Barbara. If we have enough girls register from a particular geographical area, then we will explore holding practices in both SLO and an additional outlying area (e.g. Templeton or Paso Robles); however, please recognize that all practices may be held in SLO depending on registration numbers.
Practices will begin in late February or early March, and games will begin on March 17, 2018. The season will run from March 17th through late May. All games will be played at Bishop’s Peak Elementary School in San Luis Obispo, unless the team agrees ahead of time to travel to Orcutt, Santa Ynez, or Santa Barbara. Details on those “away” weekends will be provided as soon as they are determined in early spring.
Registration for the 2018 spring season is $105, and includes a reversible jersey and shooter shirt. In addition to the 805 Lacrosse registration fees, all players must be current members of US Lacrosse (https://www.uslacrosse.org/membership) and provide all of their own equipment.
For the girls game, the only equipment that is required includes a stick, goggles, and a mouthpiece; soccer-style cleats are also recommended (Girls Equipment Guide).
