We expect to field at least nine boys’ rec league teams for the 2018 spring season. There will be three different age groups (U10, U12, and U14) practicing in three different geographical areas based on where the players live – South County (Arroyo Grande/Nipomo/Pismo Beach), San Luis Obispo, and North County. Each team will practice in their designated geographical area, and then play games in San Luis Obispo on Saturdays. The U12 and U14 teams will likely practice twice per week; the U10 teams will practice either once or twice per week depending on the coaches’ availability. For information on what age bracket your son falls into, please review the US Lacrosse age bracket table (US Lacrosse Player Age Matix).
If players prefer to play on a team other than their hometown team (e.g. a player may live in Arroyo Grande but attend school in SLO and prefer to practice in SLO) those arrangements can easily be made by notifying the league of your preference during registration. We welcome players from anywhere in San Luis Obispo County, but practice locations will likely be limited to South County, SLO, and North County unless we have additional player registrations in other areas. If player registration includes a large enough number of players from another geographical areas, e.g. Los Osos/Morro Bay/Cayucos, then the league will strive to add practices in that area.
Practices will begin in late February, and games will begin on March 17, 2018. The season will run from March 17th through late May.
All games will be played at Bishop’s Peak Elementary School in San Luis Obispo.
For the more advanced players and those players looking to play at a more highly competitive level, there will be a short All-Star season beginning immediately following the completion of the regular season and running through late June. We will play in several mini-tournaments against teams from Bakersfield, Orcutt, Santa Ynez, and Santa Barbara. There may be a nominal additional fee for those wanting to play in the All-Star season. If there is enough player and parent interest, club teams may be formed to attend larger, more competitive tournaments taking place later in the summer.
Registration for the 2018 spring season is $100 and includes a reversible jersey and shooter shirt. In addition to the 805 Lacrosse registration fees, all players must be current members of US Lacrosse (https://www.uslacrosse.org/membership) and provide all of their own equipment (805 Boys Equipment Guide).
